Ntsiki is South African Woman Winemaker 2009
Friday, July 31st, 2009Hot off the press… Ntsiki Biyela of Stellekaya has walked away with the title of Landbouweekblad’s South African Woman Winemaker 2009, as well as a cash prize of R20,000, at a gala ceremony at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset-West last night, 30 July 2009. Her exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 secured her a place as a finalist. I am so proud! Congrats Ntsiki, you go girl.
After the top wines are selected through a blind tasting, a choice panel of judges interviewed the six finalists. The winner is judged according to her overall personality, her view of the wine industry and her career goals.
Each finalist received a pamper pack from Lanzerac Wellness Centre and Spa, as well as a gift pack from Distinctive Brands’ with Spiegelau crystal ware.
Here is a picture of Ntsiki, myself and a Wine Diva club member this past weekend at the Stellekaya Wine event in JHB. Wine Diva and Stellekaya partnered to showcase Stellekaya wines in Stellenbosch in Feb 2009, and in Johannesburg and Pretoria in July 2009 with the aim of creating an atmosphere that is more “edutaining” and comfortable for women.
