Wine Diva Year-end Mediterranean Soiree

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Mamma Mia! Finally it’s time for Cape Town Wine Divas to celebrate.
2009 is winding down and you’re called to treat yourself and join in the Mediterranean fun I have planned for you. I figured that we deserve a chance to let our hair down and savour the last slice of 2009 after a challenging but awesome year. As Donna (Meryl Streep) says in the movie Mamma Mia! -
“You sound like you’re having fun already”

Wine Diva invites you to have the time of your life by joining in a fun and fancy-free
Wine Diva Pizza and Pasta evening!
… At Mamma Roma Trattoria and Pizzeria in the Colosseum Building at Century City
… on Monday 30 November 2009 @ 7pm

In true Italian style, we will dish up to our hearts content from a variety of pizza and pasta platters served up. Pass the pizza, pass the pasta, make some friends, celebrate, let your hair down. Vegetarians will be catered for.

Wine selections for the evening are Stellekaya’s superb red wine blend Boschetto, and Welgegund Wines special Mediterranean style Rose called Divina 2009. These wine selections pair beautifully with the creative variety of Pizza and Pasta dishes and we’ll tell you all about them on the evening.

We’ll end off with a few Italian kisses each and choice of coffee or tea.

Each attendee will take home 2 bottles of wine (one Boschetto, one Divina), as well as an awesome Wine MAG, and a Lindt Excellence Intense Orange slabs 100g to take home.

Ticket cost per person is R160, and also please bring along a wine accessory gift, which we’ll exchange with each other on the night – max value of R20 (so you can get creative and go treasure hunting for wine charms, wine stoppers, bottle openers – just for fun – remember that Lindt chocolate is also a great wine accessory!)
Since it’s the season of giving, R10 of your ticket cost will go to a worthy cause.

PS: With so many successful JHB and PTA events, I am hoping to really get in touch with my Cape Town audience, and if this event is successful – which I know it can be, then there will be many more to come, so please gather the troops, come along and prove to the sponsors that Cape Town Wine Divas want to celebrate…

Wine Diva Greetings,

Not only are these ideas economical but they are also very ecofriendly.

Firstly remove plastic seals and labelling by soaking in hot soapy water (use biodegradable dish washing liquid). You may want to save screwcaps if you want to seal bottle again depending on how you plan to “recycle” it…

Buy some awesome long-stemmed artificial flowers from home store such as Mr. Price Home, pop them in your empty clean wine bottles and it makes a great economical home accessory, get well gift for a sick friend or simply to cheer up your office workspace.

Buy 2 wine bottle closures, can usually find fun and colourful ones at the crazy store for about R8 for two. Or choose bottles with screwcaps. Take two clean empty wine bottles. Fill one with olive oil and the other with balsalmic vinegar. Makes great salad dressing dinner table duo for parties and braai.

Similarly empty wine bottles can be filled with bubble bath or body lotion. Personalised labels made and deocrated with some raffia or ribbon. Stunning gifts and stylish useful bathroom accessories. Bottles with srewcaps work best.

Use a clean empty wine bottle with screwcap closure to store your fridge water.

Get creative with stained glass paint, fill with glass beads or small semi-precious stones and use as windowsill decor, door stops or candle holders, or pair with colourful candles and give as a gift.

Message in a bottle – a unique way to give a greeting. Type out your birthday or Christmas message, pop it into the empty wine bottle which you have decorated with stained glass paint and voila.
